The stage is been set and the students selected for The 2025 Negotiation Challenge sponsored by The Negotiation Center. This year’s competition features 180 students. Those students comprise 60 teams of three students from across the globe. The students are coordinating and dealing with 20 time zones.Have you made deals across international time zones?
What is the best advice you would offer to negotiate with people from other countries?
How do you stay sharp and creative when the hours are long?
When you negotiate with people from other parts of the world, you face more than time zones.
There are differences in interpretations and in forming deals.
Fortunately, for three teams of Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas negotiators, the students from other schools have been cordial and there is an atmosphere of learning.
Last week was round one where our UTD teams negotiated with others from New Zealand, Taiwan, and India. The UTD students find out who their second round competitors are on Thursday. Then, they arrange a time to negotiate Friday and Saturday.
Thank you to Maria Hasenhuttl and Erica Lin for helping stage and host the event and the @UTDallas Tech Team for making sure we connected with the other teams.
I’ll repost UTD’s introduction to the nine smart students comprising the teams later this week.
Go Negotiate!
